50 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED - 23rd March 2015

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence have today arrested a man aged in his 50s from the York area on suspicion of murder. Searches are being conducted which are expected to be ongoing over a number of days. No further details relating to the arrest will be provided at this stage of the investigation. The investigation team would like to stress that Claudia has not been found. Claudia's family have been notified about the arrest and are being supported by trained officers. Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, head of North Yorkshire Police's Major Crime Unit and the senior investigating officer in the Claudia Lawrence inquiry, said: "To ensure the investigation and legal process are not compromised or potentially damaged in any way during this critical phase in seeking the truth about Claudia's disappearance, North Yorkshire Police strongly advises the media and members of the public against identifying the man who has been arrested.

"This includes naming or publishing images of the man on traditional media platforms or social networking sites.  "I urge everyone to show restraint and patience while we carry out these very important enquiries."

Carol service in York for Missing People

'Missing People; is working together with family representative Peter Lawrence to host a carol service remembering those who are missing this Christmas, on Monday 10 December 2013 at St Chad on the Knavesmire Parish Church, York.

.Peter gave a Press Briefing outside the West Front of York Minster on Thursday October 10th
It marked 40,000 hours since Claudia last made contact with anybody in March 2009. As well as talking about life without Claudia and the hurt caused to family & friends by Rodney Ballard’s Claudia-obsessed behaviour, Peter also talked about his first meeting the previous day with the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, Dave Jones.
The Dean of York, the Very Reverend Vivienne Faull, who was unable to be present on this occasion, said, “Around 850 people are reported as missing every single day in this country, so this is an issue that affects people of all walks of life and background – and for those left behind, it can be a heart-breaking time of uncertainty and distress. As Peter Lawrence is a member of the Minster congregation, we see first-hand how this continues to affect Claudia Lawrence’s family, and we pray for Claudia, her family and, indeed, all those who wait for news of their absent loved ones.”
The Voice of Russia (UK),
Martin Dales took part in a panel discussion on The Voice of Russia (UK), chaired by Brendan Cole. The subject was Missing People, and the other panellists were Lady Catherine Meyer, Chief Executive of Parents and Abducted Children Together (PACT), Dr Raj Persaud, consultant psychiatrist, and best-selling author who has written about abduction and missing persons, and Leah Steele, solicitor at Lyons Davidsons solicitors, who deals with contentious estates and the estates of missing persons The Voice of Russia

House of Commons Tuesday March 5th 2013
Presumption of Death Bill passes its final stage in Parliament and now awaits Royal Assent before becoming law.
Peter says, “
I welcome the speed with which this has gone through Parliament and it will now make the law consistent across all parts of the United Kingdom and help families wind up their missing relative’s Estate.
“I continue with promoting the need for legislation for Guardianship arrangements to exist for those missing to ensure their affairs are looked after until they return: it will help the thousands of families each year who find themselves in this predicament.

.

27th February 2013
“Today is the 39th birthday of York chef Claudia Lawrence who has been missing from York since March 2009.
“I cannot believe that we are yet again at another birthday for Claudia and there is still no news as to what has happened to her. All anniversaries are hard for the family and friends to cope with and it is unacceptable that there is still no closure – good or bad.
“Out there are some heartless persons who know something but they don’t have the guts to tell the police what they know. How low can people get – it’s outrageous and continues, after 4 years, to cause immense damage to Peter & the family.
“Vast amounts of police time, effort and over £750,000 of public money have gone into trying to find answers and, after this length of time, they, along with family and friends, deserve to have those answers.
“So I make a further appeal to those who know these answers.
“How can you sleep at night knowing you know the answer?
“ How can you live the lie with yourselves?
“ Have you no feelings for those who are suffering because of your misguided silence?
“Do what you know in your heart of hearts is right and end the misery of all those who love and care for Claudia even if you don’t.”
Martin Dales

House of Commons Friday 2nd November
Peter, was present in the House of Commons on Friday 2nd November for the 2nd Reading of the Presumption of Death Bill 2012 which received government support from the Justice Minister, Helen Grant MP.
Peter says, “I am very pleased that this has been accepted by Government as being an essential part of the necessary reforms to make life easier for families of missing loved ones. Along with many MPs and Peers, I believe additional Guardianship arrangements would also assist 1,000s more families with missing people each year and I hope that during the Committee stage, this might
be added as amending legislation.”

It is now three years since Claudia went missing and it is three years too long without knowing where she is or what has happened to her.
