As you head north out of Hovingham, the road bears left at the foot of Caukleys Bank and onto Stonegrave. It is a small village with a very important church which is away to the left just before the road goes up a small incline in the middle of the village. The church, The Holy Trinity or Stonegrave Minster, is the smallest Minster in the country and was mentioned in the Doomsday Book.  There is a wealth of heraldry in the Minster, a link is at the bottom of the page. There is a farm shop at east end of the village and well worth a visit. The road to the left, half way through the village will take you to Cawton, Gilling East and onto York.
