Farming is without doubt the main industry in Ryedale. It has the most insertions in the Yellow Pages under 'Farming' and is the main generating source of cash in the area. The farms range from tiny small holdings run by 'The Farmer & his Wife' to large estates employing many people on a full time basis. Corn on the wolds and Vale of Pickering , cattle on the lowland and sheep on the Yorkshire Moors are all part of the farming scene. Cattle and other livestock are still sold in Malton on market days. The cattle market on the west side of the Market Place.
